The Malaysian government has deported three Indonesian officers of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries it arrested for apprehending Malaysian fishermen fishing within the Indonesian territory.
“I heard they’ve been heading for Batam, reportedly this morning,” spokesman of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Teuku Faizasyah said on Tuesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
According to Faizasyah, the process of questioning the Indonesian citizen has been completed by the Malaysian authorities.
On the other hand the process of compiling investigation report against seven Malaysian fishermen detained by the Indonesian side has also been completed by the Indonesian police, Faizasyah said, adding that they will also be freed.
“The release of the seven (Malaysian) fishermen is based mainly on the humanitarian reason,” he said.
With regard to investigation on the border violation case, Faizasyah said he has not heard any further information.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said at the State Palace in Jakarta earlier that the Indonesian government has reminded the Malaysian counterpart not to repeat the border violation.
“There has been a border violation and we have demanded that the case not be repeated,” he said.
